Irma Peña

Irma Peña was born in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, where she grew up with her family. Irma moved to Waco after being accepted as a journalism student at Baylor University.

In her junior year of college, she joined Baylor University’s Lariat TV News as a reporter and anchor. She then stepped into the Managing Editor and Executive Producer roles in her senior year, while interning with the Waco Police Department with its communications team.

She completed her degree in Journalism with a broadcast concentration and a criminal justice minor in May 2026.

After deciding to join KWTX, she hopes to continue making an impact in her community by delivering accurate and reliable news.

During her free time away from work, Irma loves to spend time with her friends, is involved in the community, and loves to travel and cook. She also enjoys everything related to social media, staying on top of the everchanging social media trends.
